Prevail hosted its annual Community Appreciation Breakfast at the Cambria Suites in Westfield. This event is held each April to honor Sexual Assault Awareness Month, Child Abuse Prevention Month, National Crime Victim’s Rights Week, and National Volunteer Appreciation Week.  At the event, Prevail’s Executive Director, Susan Ferguson, shared remarks to thank all of the agency’s many volunteers.  The theme of her remarks, based on The Book of Joy, was that compassion and generosity are the keys to experiencing joy.  The breakfast was incredibly joy-filled because all in attendance have shown unending compassion and generosity to those victims of crime and abuse who are seeking their joy at Prevail.  Prevail’s volunteer support is truly bringing joy to others, and we hope it instills the experience of joy in each of their lives, as well.

During this event Prevail recognizes many people and entities that are critical to serving victims of crime and abuse.  Primarily, this event serves as an opportunity to thank the many volunteers who devote their time and talent to Prevail all year long.  In addition, several elected officials and those running for elected office were present and recognized.  All of Prevail’s 2018 Heroes of the Month were acknowledged.  One of Prevail’s highest honors, the Outstanding Community Partner Award, is bestowed upon those who have been involved with Prevail for a number of years and consistently go above and beyond for victims in the community. This year, Prevail honored Noblesville Mayor John Distlear, Good Samaritan Network, and retired Noblesville Police Officer, Charlie Jones.  Each of these award recipients have earned this distinction through their tireless dedication to Prevail’s mission.

At this event, Prevail also honored and announced the 2019 Volunteer of the Year, Sandy Dupree. Sandy has gone above and beyond in all of her duties, not only within the Prevail office but out in the community, talking about Prevail’s mission and spreading awareness to anyone she meets. We are honored to have Sandy sharing one of the most valuable gifts with Prevail, the gift of her time.
