June's Staff Spotlight - Sara Flores, Adult Advocate
How long have you been at Prevail and what is your position?
Since April 2017 – started as VNP advocate and now Adult Advocate
What do you like most about working for Prevail?
Our organizational culture. We are an amazing group of people who strive to constantly provide better services, and to grow as individuals.
Who is your hero?
My daughter, for being my greatest teacher of what family and love can look like, and motivating me to grow and do better. And my mom, for laying the foundation within me to accept these lessons from my daughter
What is your favorite quote?
“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” John Quincy Adams. It reminds me that regardless of position, title, social status—we can all be leaders.
What would you sing at Karaoke night?
Anything Rachel Platten or Celine Dion!
What motivates you the most to serve others?
The belief that everyone deserves access to information, safety, and the opportunity to thrive with their unique talents.
If you could only eat one meal for the rest of your life, what would it be?
Salad! I feel like I’m cheating with that answer, since I put so many ingredients into my salads and I change it up depending on what’s in my refrigerator!
What is your proudest accomplishment?
Birthing my daughter with no medication!
What animal do you most identify with, and why?
A butterfly because of its amazing metamorphosis. I have evolved so much since childhood and love witnessing my own transformations as I continuously grow.
Favorite Prevail memory?
“6” this is an inside joke that goes back to my first Staff Development Day, jam-packed with vulnerability, laughter, and games. It was a day of such comradery, and it showed me that I was amongst safe people.
Favorite self-care practice?
