A person’s journey with Prevail is often precipitated by a crisis

  • In the middle of the night, local police respond to a domestic disturbance and one spouse is transported to the hospital for treatment.
  • A child is sexually assaulted and ends up in the ER.
  • A young man is shot and the detective in charge of the case suggests his parents talk to an Advocate.

In each of these scenarios, Prevail advocates are initially reached on the 24-hour crisis line. In the first two situations Advocates provide on-site response to area hospitals to be with the victim and help them understand all that is being done.

Imagine you were in one of these situations and you can understand how frightening it would be because there is shock and confusion and you just don’t know where to turn. The advocate is a neutral third party who can help explain what is happening and be there for the victim and their family.

As part of our services to victims, we are also part of state and local crisis teams formed to handle natural and other disasters.
